Karen is a former CPA, second-term school board member, and candidate for the State House in Legislative District 4.

Karen is running to use her years of accounting and governing experience to cut wasteful spending and make sure tax dollars are spent wisely and transparently.

Karen is a third-generation Arizonan who grew up in LD4. Her family has claimed Phoenix as home for more than 100 years. She has deep roots in the state and a personal stake in its future. Karen attended public schools and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a major in accounting and a minor in Spanish.

Third Generation Arizonan:

Service has always been a way of life for Karen. She has volunteered in classrooms, supported local schools, worked on campaigns, and contributed to charitable organizations. After losing her mother to leukemia at a young age, she became a long-time supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, now Blood Cancer United. She’s also a board member and past-president of the Arizona Trail Association, giving back to the state she loves as an experienced hiker and ultrarunner.

During her career as an accountant, Karen audited various corporations, including APS, which continues to drive up costs for ratepayers. Her work taught her the importance of fiscal responsibility, and she has seen firsthand how the legislature passes reckless budgets and mishandles taxpayer dollars.

Karen is running to bring accountability to the state budget process, push back on wasteful spending, and make government work for the people paying the bills.

Fighting to Reduce Wasteful Spending, Putting Money Back in the Pockets of Arizonans:

Continuing to Serve Arizona Students and Families:

When her own kids started school, Karen saw the challenges Arizona students face. Eventually, she ran for and won a seat on the Madison Elementary School District governing board. She is now in her second term and continues to serve students, teachers, and families. That experience has made one thing clear: the status quo at the Legislature is not working. Fraud, waste, and abuse in voucher programs continue to strain resources, while public schools are asked to do more with less. As an accountant with six years of governing board experience, Karen has the knowledge to ask tough questions, make smart decisions, and fight for resources that put students first.

Working Hard on Behalf of Arizonans

Karen is no stranger to tough challenges. She is ready to take that fight to the Capitol, standing up for taxpayers and working to ensure that future generations–our children and grandchildren–are not left paying the price for today’s decisions.
